Spring Wardrobe for Winter Weather

Spring is around the corner, which means the stores are starting to release their spring collections. But here in New York, it’s still cold. So I’ve taken this dress from Anna Sammarone’s spring collection and layered it so I can wear it now. I layered the maxi wrap dress with a turtle neck and sheer tights. Because it’s still like 4 layer minimum weather, I opted for my oversized navy coat and for a little-added warmth I added chunky socks.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I thought I’d revisit one of my old posts, Valentine’s Day Couple’s Outfits Lookbook. With the help of my friend John and Media Playground PR, I created 3 couple’s looks for 3 different date occasions. Living in New York now I see these are definitely more for a California type February.

This look is perfect for a laid back date to a pizza parlor, the movies or even an amusement park. To achieve my look I paired colorful high waisted skinny jeans with a crop top and textured parka. I kept my shoes and accessories simple as I was mixing prints on top with my shirt and jacket. For his look I anchored his print on the bottom and kept the top half pretty simple with a colored denim jacket and white tee. The key to this look is being comfortable and having fun, mix prints, try and bold print or colored denim.

Lotus Halo Military Jacket

Today it’s another beautiful day in New York. So why not show some leg? I decided to pair this jacket  from Lotus Halo with a leopard skirt from +TopShop and this graphic tee I snagged at the +Barely Famous premiere. I kept my jewelry rather simple to not compete with the jacket and grabbed my vintage cross body bag.
I’m literally obsessed with this military jacket from Lotus Halo right now. If I could get away with wearing it everyday I probably would. I love this jacket because it’s in a basic military silhouette and adds glitz to any outfit. What piece do you have that can glam up any outfit?

BYOB with bareMinerals

This past Saturday I hosted my first blogger meet-up in New York. I had the best time with all the ladies that showed up to the BYOB with bareMinerals at their Shade Shop in SoHo. At the event we went through our Beauty Bags to see what should and should not be in there. Beauty Specialist, Lorraine, provided a spring beauty look demonstration with some great tips. We had giveaways for the participants, great music and of course networking. We even enjoyed small bites provided by Dean and Deluca. Overall this event was a success and we are already planning the next one. 🙂

I went to the launch of Cadillac’s new car the CT6 at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn. I went my my homie Ananta from The New Black NYC. I enjoyed a night filled with food, drinks and music and of course the brand new Cadillac CT6. The new Cadillac CT6 is for the daring those who aren’t afraid to take risks. The new car is filled with new safety features, new design features and of course new technology. The event culminated with a performance from Raphael Saadiq which was Epic!

Dress for the Snow

As the snow keeps falling the days I’m able to wear dresses out of the house are dwindling. Today I layered my tights again with leggings, my thigh high socks, rain boots and took to the snow.  I wanted to dress this dress down a bit by pairing them with my rain boots. I added a skinny belt to create a bit more definition at my wait and accessorized with gold jewelry and accents.
I arrived in DC Grand Central terminal and as I waited for my cousin to arrive, I discovered they had a H&M. So of course I went in, Large suitcase and all, to try some things on. I tried this dress on but it was a bit too small  :(. Fast forward a few days, the day after Christmas to be exact, I’m in another H&M and find the dress in my size :D. So I just had to take it home, plus it was 50% off the already marked sale price. The long sleeve and sweater material make it a perfect skater dress for F/W.  What’s your perfect winter dress look like?
