5 Favorite NYFW Shows – SS18

I went to a lot of shows this season for fashion week and I wanted to recap some of my favorite shows. The shows range from fantasy to fabulous.

Laurence and Chico

The brands designers Laurence Li and Chico Wang delivered an amazing presentation. Their over the top aesthetic from the wigs to the indoor forest floor were no match for the designs themselves. Each element worked together perfectly and emersed you into the world of Laurence and Chico.

NYFW: Day 1

Today marks the start of one of the best weeks in the year, New York Fashion Week. I went to the Tadashi Shoji show at Lincoln Center and the Big Park show near central park. Today I opted for a more minimal monochromatic look. I found this cocoon coat at +Urban Outfitters for only $20. I can’t wait to transition it to spring. I went for al black underneath for a more chic look. I layered for the gods since this coat isn’t the thickest. I went for a simple LBD that has the longest sleeves ever which is the best since I have a really long arms and its a really warm sweater material. I went to two events, pics will be posted soon.  Photographed by Jean Paul Dia

The day started off with our first show, Artistix put on by Redlight PR. The show was filled with prints, leather accents, denim and the a body painted finale. The night ended with a show featuring several designers. I was invited by Elliot Carlyle to see his client Rinat Brodach. The show was great, I loved her silk pieces and her draping was impeccable.post signature

After church I headed to the Storefront x RePop Room “Fashion That Pops” Champagne Brunch. I was starving so i decided to grab a few bites before mingling with the designers. The first designer I run into, Marrin Costello. First of all I can’t believe I saw her all the way in New York. It was a pleasant surprise, we chatted a bit and snagged a photo op. BTW isn’t her hair fab? Her new designs blew me away I can’t wait for the highlights post to show you some of my favorite pieces. There were 2 more fashion designers there, so I networked and I was on my way. Next stop was the Essence Street Style Block Party in Dumbo. There was live music, Shea Moisture Stations, jewelry and clothing vendors, food trucks and a step and repeat. What more could a girl ask for? The block party was a great time, tons of people and of course the naturalistas were out in full force. After the block party we went over to the Brooklyn Bridge for an impromptu photo shoot lol. Up next we headed to the Long Tran show. His women’s collection was full of white avant garde dresses with tons of detail included one that lit up. The men’s wear were printed suits with matching shoes. The collection boasted over exaggerated features such as shoulders or hips. These designs were to die for and I can’t wait for next season’s show. Our second show was Mochachino. This show was full of printed swimwear, caftans and ready to wear for men and women. This show boasted a full of surprises in the audience. I ran into an old college friend and a fellow rattler at the show. Can’t wait to reconnect with these two lovely people later this week. Our night ended in the Meatpacking District on the highline. As we were headed over there I ran into Shameless Maya filming her next video, a lookbook and the dress she was wearing was nothing less than fab. Day 3 of NYFW was a bit hectic. It started with an O Magazine charity event in the Bronx. Afterwards we headed to Lincoln Center for street style photos. While there I hit up the Zappos recharge station where I got a purple lip, my new favorite, added a few accessories and hit their runway. While I waited I was able to charge my phone and my camera at their free charging station as well as recharge myself with juice provided by .
Next it was time to grab lunch and head to the Meat Packing District to hang out with Barbie and CFDA at their recharging lounge. This Barbie themed lounge was a perfect pick me up for the late afternoon with design your own Barbie dress stations, an assortment of juices and tons of lounging space.
Then we headed back towards Lincoln Center for the RewardStyle Roof Top Party at the Empire Hotel. Despite the short bit of rain this was a perfect location to have a few small bites, grab a drink and pick up some free goodies while we were at it. The lounge featured booths by Piperlime, BlueFly and TopShop to name a few. To top it all off there was a photbooth so I was sold.

So Day 2 of NYFW got off to a late start with internet issues and outfit changes lol. As each day must start I headed to Lincoln Center. I’ve been taking Street Style photos for Obvious Magazine for this season’s shows. BTW I’m a fashion editor for Obvious Magazine. So Vandell and I went to do our daily duty and take ootd pictures of course. After we headed to grab a bit of lunch then it was off to our first event, Refinery 29 Country Club. Refinery 29 set up a mini golf course and refreshment station out in soho. I was all about this event. Each hole was inspired by a fashion designer. I took a photo at one of my favorite holes, Mettalic Mile inspired by Marc Jacobs. I won but I was no easy task, these holes were no joke. All in all it was a great time; fun game of golf, tea and music to refresh us from the morning.
